November, a month more and we say goodbye to the year that passed. I cannot help but wonder about the journey I went through and the person I became after both accomplishing and not accomplishing the goals I have set at the beginning of the year.

Allow me to ask you, didn’t we all hope and pray for an amazing 2015? Yes? Great. So, how amazing was it?

For everyone who did get what they set out to do, let me extend my sweetest congratulations and a toast that your 2016 are even bigger. To those who fell short deserves an even bigger congratulations. Breakthrough is coming. I am not mocking nor joking, for you see, failing a goal means that life is giving you another chance to make it big. Breakdowns such as these are just bumps on the road towards that amazing life that you deserve.

There are two reasons why breakdowns, or failures happen:

You did not do the necessary action required.

No matter how talented or smart you are, chances are, if you are not in action, nothing will happen. It is the same in all the areas of your life. I have a friend who have always wanted to lose weight and dreamed about having those sexy abs. Been telling everyone he will start his diet soon, even enrolled his credit card to the gym (yup, you heard me, just his credit card), after one session, he never went back. I even shared to him the 3-month program I used, got interested but no follow through. He told me he would start after Christmas. And that was two years ago. I know another friend who attends all the seminar she would hear about, but never really gotten to roll her sleeves, and finally start her own business. When I asked her about it, she said she did not have the time. How can one not have time to fulfill their dreams? It is not about being busy; it is about priorities. It is about doing what needs to be done now, so that you can do the things that you wanted to do, sooner. Let’s face it, if you do not do anything new, nothing new will come into your life. Take action.

Your actions were not effective or what you did, did not work.

This is where success happens. Successful people are those that never failed, they are those that did it, failed, learned, did it again, made another mistake, learned from it and went on to do it again until he succeeds. Breakdowns are good, because by then you can adjust your sails and move on. You know what they say; calm seas never make a great sailor. People are so afraid to make mistakes when mistakes are designed to make us better. I too am afraid of failing. It is a normal human behavior. If you are never afraid then it means that one: you are not human, or two: that your dreams are not big enough for you to be afraid. When one is in action, then one can keep on learning, unlearning and relearning until finally, what you do, works. I was not able to get all my goals done, though the year is not over yet. Did I fail, no, just a bump on the road? For I know, where I am now, who I am now and where I was or who I was at the beginning of the year is different. I may not have reached the finish line, but I am closer than I have ever been. My advice: Ready. Fire. Aim.

My mentor once said, if you do not want to fail, you can do these two things:

1.  Never set any goals. Do not try to accomplish anything. But never ever complain about your life.

2.  Play it small. Get a tennis racket and give it to a three year old and play the game. Will you lose? Definitely not,           but  will it be worth it?

Play the game of life. Play to win, and not just to “not lose”. Playing it safe was never meant to be fun. What have you got to lose? We all die anyway; you might as well start living your dreams early. Set your goals. Stretch and be surprised about what you can accomplish. Life is not about who had less mistakes, life is about who took the most risks and enjoyed life to the fullest. Is it going to be hard? Yes. But it is going to be worth it.

I did not reach all of my goals, as I have a series of goals in all areas of my life: business, relationship, health, spirituality and community. Failed some, won some. Am I devastated, no, I am excited. Because, now I know that what I did, did not work, so I am excited to do what might. Who knows? The future is a blank canvass that I can always create.

The world has no time for your reasons and excuses. No body is too young or too old. No body is too busy, nor too shy nor too poor nor too rich to start doing something that makes their life amazing. Beethoven was deaf and he became the most amazing musician. Nick has no arms and legs and yet he inspires millions. Mother Theresa is small and frail yet she saved thousands of lives. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. So what, if your goals for the year did not pan out? You are still alive, set another goal and make it happen this time.

The world is waiting to hear your story. Let us hear it. The best stories are those that went through a lot of failures and breakdowns, and ended up as victories. Fight for your dreams, create the best story of your life and I will see you in all the beaches of the world.
