The Ten Commandments in Business

The Ten Commandments in Business

Being an entrepreneur is both simple and complicated. That would actually depend on the kind of mindset that you have which could affect how you run your business. Just like being a parent, you need to nurture your business in order for it to become sustainable, otherwise, all the time and money that you have spent would just go down the drain.

When you start building your business, you need your full commitment to it. You should know that you will be wearing more than one hat, which means, although there will be people who will be there to help you manage the business, it is no excuse for an entrepreneur not to know the ins and outs of the business.

I have seen a lot of entrepreneurs who did not last that long simply because they have become out of focus. They have set their goals in earning more money, that they have neglected to see the smallest details which could help them achieve the results that they want.

Simple Rules To Help Entrepreneurs

There are simple rules which every entrepreneur should learn by heart. Now, this doesn’t mean that there are shortcuts to success because there isn’t any. Only when you take the time to savor the entrepreneurial journey will you be able to tell yourself that you have reached success.

  1. You need to have your full commitment to the business. You cannot build one and be on vacation for too long. Yes, that is the sad truth if you want your business to become successful. It may get you to work more than your 9 to 5 job.
  2. You cannot duplicate the history of another company. This means you need to build your brand from the ground up.
  3. You need to stay loyal to your stakeholders, employees, and customers. After all, without their help, you can never have a sustainable business. An entrepreneur should be kind to his employees and should treat them with respect and dignity.
  4. Indeed, being an entrepreneur may mean having to spend more time working. But, it should not be an excuse to forsake your family. Always take some time off and give quality time to your family. Additionally, you also need some time to get energized, too. Having a sound mind and body allows a person to think better.
  5. Always remember to look back to where and how you started. I believe that an entrepreneur who acknowledges his past become more successful because he will always find ways on how to reach his goals in a manner that will benefit more people and would not destroy anyone just to become successful. Learn to give back to the community.
  6. Never become greedy. In any kind of business, an entrepreneur will experience different highs and lows. When he comes to a point where he is gaining traction with his business, it should make him remain humble and not to become too hungry to earn more to the point of engaging in illegal activities just to remain on top.
  7. An entrepreneur should always be true to his word. Some entrepreneurs would take advantage of selling low-quality products. Obviously, when a customer realizes that what he/she has purchased is of inferior quality, it is unlikely that this customer would ever purchase again or recommend friends to patronize the brand.
  8. Be as unique as possible as you can. There are so many similar products that you can find in the market, but always offer something different that would encourage customers to choose your products and services. This would mean strengthening the brand through great marketing efforts.
  9. You are not perfect, just like anybody else. If you have made a mistake, owe up to it and never blame others for the shortcomings. You want to build the trust of the people, and in building that trust, you need to be always true and sincere.
  10. Any business dealings should be done in good faith and in mutual agreement.

When you consider all of these, it can lead your company to a more sustainable and honorable path because only those who adhere to its company’s core values are more likely to be engaged in various useful programs in the community. And with that, the company will have better performance that is recognized in the business community.
