Rebuilding Values For A Sustainable Business

Sharing Values with the new generation

In starting a business, an entrepreneur should know what products or services he should offer to the market. He must also understand how to put value in what he does so that people would put trust in his brand. If you want to succeed in what you do, there should be a set of standards that should be followed to lead you to the right path.

Values are considered good, desirable, and proper. In a country like ours, where 90% are Catholic, entrepreneurs should focus on how to increase their chances of earning more and have the responsibility of pursuing a fair and appropriate life. What do I mean by this? Let’s face it, some people just want to earn money just because they love to have lots of money in their bank accounts, or they want to live an extravagant life. The pursuit of happiness does not end in receiving an enormous amount of money but in being a good person who has the heart of helping out others and is after the welfare of others.

So, you may ask, “Are there still people nowadays who can be “entrepreneurs with a heart”? And my answer to that is a resounding, “YES”! I do believe that when you do things wholeheartedly out of love, great things come to you 100 folds. And I am lucky to have met some of these successful people, that despite their success, they have remained generous in sharing what they have. They don’t necessarily want their names announced because that defeats the purpose of being “maka-tao and maka-Diyos.”

Value Creation

The primary aim of any business entity is to create value. Because it helps sell products and services and, at the same time, creates value for shareholders through the increase in stock price and ensures that there are enough resources to fund operations. If you think about it more closely, value creation in companies today are increasingly represented by intangible resources such as the brand, innovation, and people.

In a nutshell, value formation is now recognized as a better management goal than focusing on the company’s financial performance. It is not just by being religious. It is by doing what is right. and just at the end of the day, both the company and the customers benefit from it.

When entrepreneurs only see the whole picture of managing a business from a financial perspective, this sometimes results in cost-cutting. However, with this, it produces short-term results that do not help in enhancing long-term competitiveness and growth. When value formation is prioritized, it enables us to find solutions on how to grow the business. Thus, it will lead to better deployment of capital and enhance the development of better people than its competitors. Therefore, this will give a considerable edge in building the company’s ability to achieve profitable and sustainable growth.

Achieve Better Values in Business

First and foremost, an organization should understand the sources and drivers of value creation within the industry, company, and marketplace. When you can identify what creates value, profitable opportunities for growth are easily targeted as it helps managers focus capital and talent. For example: When a customer is asked why she always comes back to this particular store, And answers that it is because of the high-quality products and the timely delivery she always experiences when shopping. It means that the employees’ skills, the kind of system used, and the processes that produce and deliver the products and services are precious to the organization. On the other hand, if the customer replies that the innovation and high performance of products are why she trusts the brand, then it is because of all three points mentioned earlier. Plus, the superior functionality of the product creates the value of the company. Consistency actions and capabilities of a company through its products and services are the core of creating a strategic execution for the sustainability of the business.

The Essential Values in Business

As an entrepreneur who wears a thousand hats, it is not an easy job yet very fulfilling. We all have responsibilities no matter what kind of work we do. Through this, we become a much happier individual in or out of our company. There are 3 kinds of entrepreneurial values that we must learn to strengthen.

  1. Personal Values – One should be honest, passionate, determined, and confident. No one will feel interested in dealing with an arrogant, self-centered, and selfish individual.
  2. Professional Values – It is the ability to conduct oneself in the business environment through healthy competition and abide by the law. Similarly, it also reflects how an entrepreneur treats his employees and customers and values their role in his success.
  3. Social Values – It is one of the essential traits of an entrepreneur wherein he knows how to value the community. First, by creating products and services that benefit the community, and second, by supporting a social cause where he believes in.

Entrepreneurship is a lot more than money-making. It is also about sustaining the business. For as long as you keep your personal, professional, and social values balanced, for sure, your business will continue to grow. The more actively you work on improving all three aspects, the quicker the results will be evident.
