The Business Mentor
The evening of August 1st 2016 marked a historical change! In Polo Club Main Hall Makati was a gathering of 650 individuals. This was no ordinary people for there you will see who is who in the business, entertainment and government officials. Almost everywhere one would look a public figure or known in the industry circle may be next to you. It marked the launching of KAPATID ANGAT LAHAT program. It is not a political group but a gathering of highly spirited and motivated individuals out to contribute in whatever manner they can. They want to pitch and mentor those who like to help themselves.
The huge number was never expected to reach that. The invitation was done through the power of VIBER, a popular social media app. To gather on a Monday evening such a crowd was a miracle. The common cause drove everybody to to adjust his or her respective schedules to be part of this program. Indeed if change is to come it must emanate from within each individual. No fanfare or publicity stunts but in whatever way individual, group or small businesses can adopt and help others.
The man behind this gathering was Joey Concepcion who spear headed eleven years ago the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE). Joey is otherwise known as Mr. Go Negosyo. Together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which is headed by Go Negosyo’s Executive Director and now Secretary Ramon Lopez, the two gentlemen gathered their minds and arrived at this KAPATID program.

On the opening of the program, a video of three people trying to earn a living and on a hand to mouth subsistence was shown. The whole room was quiet one could hear a pin drop. Afterwards these individuals stood up from where they were seated. A round of applause came.
This is the beginning of KAPATID and there is no end in sight. It is not going to be a Ningas Cogon or a flash in the pan style. The people who showed up have that burning zeal. It takes a fellow Filipino to help another. Already the messages in the Viber group began to quadruple with superb ideas and actions.DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez having his famous “Lopez’s Selfie” with Angelpreneurs of Go NegosyoDTI Secretary Ramon Lopez having his famous “Lopez’s Selfie” with Angelpreneurs of Go Negosyo

Under the KAPATID program, DTI and the private sector including big businesses will work hand in hand to fuel the growth of small enterprises in the country. Mentors who are involved in different fields like agriculture, teachers, and entrepreneurs from different locations of the country will be available. Clusters will be identified by DTI so mentors will have easy access.
