How Entrepreneurs Should Face FEAR

Any entrepreneur should realize that starting up a business is about taking risks.

There is probably no person who is not afraid of something. Although having an extreme fear of something may be considered unusual. For entrepreneurs, life is not any different from ordinary people’s. All of us face other challenges day in and day out. The complexities may be various, but just the same, we need to meet these adversities to improve our lives and make a difference.

How Entrepreneurs Deal With Fear

There are two types of entrepreneurs: One is the person who creates various businesses simultaneously, and two are who makes one and focuses on it. Between the two, who do you think faces fear? If you look at the sentence plainly, you would think that the first person is fearless because he can create various businesses. In contrast, the second person just wants one business to handle. Despite the difference in the number of businesses that these two persons take, they face a certain degree of fear. The only difference is that the first person may be more risk-taker than the second.

There are a lot of entrepreneurs these days that deal with more than one business at the same time. And along with these are numerous struggles along the way. But instead of being fearful, he finds a course on turning around things and creating solutions that can completely eradicate or at least minimize problems.

FEAR may have two meanings. It may either be Face Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. If you are an entrepreneur, you need to realize that the struggle doesn’t stop once you have completely set up the business. It is actually the start of a string of challenges as you climb your way up.

A fearful entrepreneur quickly gives up and would instead stick to the traditional ways. He would somewhat be tied with just one for security rather than expose himself to other opportunities. But probably because of not having too much confidence to work outside his comfort zone, he would just rather stay stuck. This kind of thinking is that there may be new doors opening for him that can genuinely make a massive difference in his career as an entrepreneur.

There is actually a solution to how this kind of thinking can be changed. And that is by believing in oneself. I mean that no better person can feel your capabilities than yourself. To gain confidence, an entrepreneur must equip himself with the right skills and knowledge to fully explore new opportunities.

On the other hand, the first entrepreneur who has a lot on his plate does not make him fearless. In fact, there should be more things that can make him anxious, particularly regarding manpower and finances. But, he who creates a business and develops the right attitude may become more successful, but of course, the credit is not all his to keep. The people who help him are his armies that help battle the difficulties they encounter every day.

Signs of How Fear is Holding You Back

One may readily admit that they are afraid. However, some would try to keep the signs from showing, but they still manifest in so many ways.

  1. Being a pessimist. This is the kind of person who plainly sees the negative things around him. Despite what others may tell him that something is good, he would instead point out the downfall than see the benefits.
  2. Fails to think things through. It is like having an immediate answer without thinking of other possibilities. It is also like having set his mind to one thing, and no one could ever give an opinion about it.
  3. Jumps off at the sign of change. Change is something that we cannot avoid. However, what could be more appealing is to have a positive change. People who reject any change are a sign of being fearful of accepting new sets of standards.
  4. Does not mingle with other people. He would rather stay in his room or ask someone else to take his place rather than connect with people.
  5. Fails to make the right decision. Being superstitious can affect one’s decision. Although these are normal in some cultures, they sometimes affect how something should be decided, particularly in business. Relying too much on how the elders think about certain things delays a decision that needs to be made.

No entrepreneur can claim success unless he can conquer his fear.

How To Conquer Fear

You can hide behind your desk and just pray that things will be how you want them to be. You need to do something to run a business successfully.

  1. Face your fear. It is like eating a particular food that you are allergic to, and in the long run, you get immune from it, somehow. If you fear public speaking, learn how to improve how you relate to people. Being an entrepreneur, you should be out there speaking to people and showing off what your business is all about.
  2. Change how you perceive adversities. Keep in mind that nothing will stay the same for long. As time passes, the world changes as well. A perfect example is how technology has greatly impacted business today. Adapting digital technology into your business allows you to expand your business. You no longer are confined with the community around you. Still, you also get to have the opportunity to sell your products and services online 24/7.
  3. Identify what causes your fear. Sometimes there are situations or events in the past that may be causing our fear. It is best to talk to a professional regarding this. to be relieved from it. And finally, have a strong will to move on with the world.
  4. Educate yourself. What are you afraid of? Learn more about what you are fearful about to have a better understanding, and then you can drive at a better solution on how to turn around things.
  5. Eyes on your goal. No entrepreneur would want to become a failure. In the first place, why would you even start a business if you would just let it standstill? Your goal, of course, is to become successful, and to be able to reach that goal, something needs to be done.
  6.       Believe in yourself. Believe that you can do things and make them better. Never underestimate your capabilities. Forgive yourself for the mistakes that you may have made, and allow yourself to rise up with your head held up high.

Be surrounded by people who can pull you up rather than those who would only condone your fear. If others can do it, so can you. Seek an expert on how you can focus more on the positive rather than dragging yourself down.
