Entrepreneurship As A Calling

Topics: business purpose, calling, entrepreneurship, franchise development, personal growth

What we genuinely want to be when we grow up? While most children are fascinated with the thought of being a doctor, a nurse, a teacher, a policeman, or a fireman, some may have felt a different inclination. I used the word tendency because children as young as 8 years old may be unaware of what he truly wants for a long term. He just sees something as something that he thinks can do but not necessarily knowing if he is headed to a specific path- such as innocent kids. We grow older, our thoughts change, which may be affected by how we have been brought up and also by the influence of society.

I was raised as a Catholic and had solid faith. Against the wishes of my mother, grandparents, and relatives, I entered the seminary. The number of years I spent was an excellent personal investment. However, I have chosen a different line of work with their chosen fields. I saw myself headed in another direction. It didn’t mean to completely forget where I came from. Until this day, my devotion to our Lord through Ignatius de Loyola is just as intense as before. It wasn’t as apparent until I was working abroad and realized that I was helping a company. I realized that my passion is helping out people. The magical moment was when I started using my love for reaching out to people into something that is genuinely worthwhile, something that can be permanent in other people’s lives for as long as there is proper guidance.

That was my calling. My love and passion have slowly turned into something fruitful over the years. Hence, I have built GMB Franchise Developers. Besides sharing what I have learned all these years, I have also helped people realize their own calling. Entrepreneurship is something that people should embrace. However, I did realize that it was not as easy as it is for others. For one to become successful, he needs to have passion and commitment. Just like doctors and lawyers, they have their own individual callings. All of them aim to extend help to others, but in a different manner. Entrepreneurship is somewhat similar. When we talk about entrepreneurship. Naturally, when a business grows, there is also a need to hire more employees. Imagine how many people are currently unemployed now. Only a few are given the right opportunity because of the lack of skills and/or knowledge. And that is one crucial factor which everyone should realize. You don’t need to finish College from an exclusive school to become successful. Some of our multi-millionaires did not graduate from the top 10 best schools in the Philippines, and yet, they were able to climb up the ladder of success.

How To Know Your True Calling

It may be challenging to determine which way you should go if you do not think about what you really want in life. Here are tips on how you can identify your true calling.

  1. Notice signs and dreams. Sometimes through our plans, our innermost desires show up.
  2. Realize what makes you feel happy. Things of things or incidents that always make you happy, comfortable, and satisfied.
  3. Think about the things you used to love or things that made you feel delighted and comfortable.
  4. Notice any incident that keeps on coming back. Take a hint.
  5. Change your routine. You may have been stuck with a performance for yours. Try doing different things and experiment.
  6. Don’t be in a hurry. Take your time. Success is not achieved overnight. You will be on the right path.

Strengthening Entrepreneurial Power

The years of working with so many people helped me as an individual myself. Even if I have been taken as a mentor, it doesn’t mean that I already know everything. The experiences of each individual that I have helped have also helped me grow as a person. The struggles that we all have may not be of the same intensity, but still, the battle is there. The different challenges that we come across every day may not be as hard always. Therefore, we need to take advantage of those days that we are at our peak.

How do you show your entrepreneurial power to your employees and still stay being loved by them? There was a story about a good entrepreneur who didn’t leave all the work to his employees. He was strict, just like any boss, but his employees remained loyal to them despite that. Do you know why?

  1. A good entrepreneur always values the suggestions of their employees. Opening up to him is not an assurance that whatever direction was given will be implemented. But at least, he gets to formulate better plans through collaboration with his employees.
  2. When the business is growing and earning, a good entrepreneur rewards their employees.
  3. With this, people are more likely to become inspired to do their work and provide better outputs.
  4. Typically, employees line up at the HR office to get their salary. But with this boss, he wants to hand it to him personally, and also this allows him to have some small conversation with each of them. Their employees are happy when their talk or pat them on their back. The boss practically knows everyone since most of the employees have been working for him since the beginning. Some of them are the children of former employees, too.

What do you think about how this entrepreneur handles his business? Apart from assuring that his company would provide high-quality products to customers, he ensures that each employee is well-taken care of. And that everything they work hard for is not wasted. This may not be possible for large companies. Still, I guess an entrepreneur becomes truly successful when he has the heart for his employees.

Entrepreneurship as a calling is not merely focused on becoming financially successful. Someone who helps employees to become better individuals and has more passion and dedication to their jobs. But more so, being a good person extending help to the people who need his products and services by ensuring that they are always top-caliber.
