An Entrepreneur’s Goal For The New Year

I am very thankful for the New Year. It means having another shot at whatever we may have missed the previous year. The pressure may be so much on those who may have felt defeated or have failed in creating a dynamic business model. But, as I would always, there is a right time for everything. We cannot always be on top no matter how much we put all our efforts into something that we have started. We just need to be patient and wait for the perfect time for our plans to materialize.

It’s a different story when an entrepreneur would just be sitting behind his table and wait for something magical to happen without him even lifting a finger. To all aspiring entrepreneurs, there is no such thing as an instant success, unless you have made a pact with the devil to give you millions in a snap. If you look around and you just observe how the people live, you would have a clear vision of what you can truly offer to them that could make you successful.

Blindly starting up a business is an outrageous move. First and foremost, you must check yourself if you are ready to handle the responsibilities that an entrepreneur will have. You need to have the knowledge and the right skills in order to push through with your plans. If the business you have in mind is something that you know would click but you absolutely have no idea how to work it out, then I suggest that you just take some more time into thinking which is the best business that would suit your personality and a kind that is close to your heart,

Here are the reasons why entrepreneurs fail to innovate:

1.  They are too engrossed with the numbers that they fail to see if what they offer is competitive in the market.

2.  They push themselves too hard to the point of missing what is truly important.

3.  The lack of skills and knowledge hinders them to have better strategies to make their brand in front of others.

4.  A successful business does not stop as soon as it reaches the top, but continues to learn how to make the business grow. Being blinded by success interferes with the company’s progress.

5.  Solely relying on the employees to make the business work on its own.

6.  Aversion to change. A business that grows over time would naturally hire more employees to be able to provide better products and services. The downfall starts when the company could not easily shift into adopting newer technologies which result in being left out by competing companies.

7.  Too much competition with the organization. Employees may have been promised a promotion once a campaign becomes successful. But instead of making improvements on their individual jobs, the employees become more focused on promised incentives than the quality of work that they provide.

8.  Spend too much time focusing on the problem rather than thinking of a solution. Imagine how much money is being spent on a failed campaign without realizing that instead of trying to make it work, the people fail to support previous successful  campaigns.

9.  Failure to balance market expectations. Failing to balance demand with supply not only affects the entire manufacturing organization, but the entire business.

10. Varying standards on which decisions are made. The decision-making process may not be as simple, however, when there is  a set of standards used, it is much easier to come up with the right plans and be able to determine how to execute them properly.

The New Year’s Goal

It is such a waste of time and money to be crying over spilled milk. Take some action and slowly rebuild your business in such a way that it aligns with what is in demand in the market now. If your business needs more time to mature, don’t be in a rush into branching out. Ensure that the business that you have started is growing smoothly. Never compare yourself with other entrepreneurs who started at the same time as you. No matter how similar are the products and services that you have, there is still a huge difference when it comes to growing your business – location-wise, quality-wise, etc. So, instead of getting envious of others who may have gotten ahead of you, focus on your own and find ways on how you can prosper as an entrepreneur. Remember, it takes more than having a business degree to become successful. You need to have the patience, perseverance and the right mindset to make your business a success. Let this new year be another chance of proving to yourself and to others what you are made of and how you can pull yourself out of the hole and be able to eventually be among the best.

“Believe you can and you are half way there.”
