Celebrating Small Victories

Another year is almost over, and how time flies, indeed! As I wake up in the morning, I see a miracle happening before my eyes – and that is being able to witness God’s love for my family and me each day. There have been times that the pandemic has made me contemplate what I have done. I  think of it as not a way of punishment, but a means for all of us to reflect.

Most of us have probably ignored so many things since we have become more focused on our businesses and careers. Times have turned us into like zombies that our routine, which we thought was helping us, was actually slowly dragging us away from the real meaning of life. And as we know, life is too short to waste our time neglecting the most important people in our lives. Similarly, having a positive perspective attracts success in our chosen endeavor.

Celebrate Victories no matter how small

As humans, we often see the tribulations and quickly punish ourselves for unfavorable matters. Poor performances or unpleasant occurrences are quickly criticized, thus showing guilt, leading to unhappiness. Our negative mindset can quickly bring us down when we fail, which often results in giving up on our dreams.

Getting stressed, depressed and apprehensive are all too common among people today. Everyone is in a hurry to get so many things done all at once. We seem to live like an automated machine – devoid of positive feelings. However, we can turn around things. Celebrating small victories can create a delightful sense that will positively impact our career, business, and personal relationships. And that is one of the reasons that affect our health

How often do you recognize your employees’ achievements? Or do you even appreciate the small things that your children have done for you? Life has been callous lately, and I think that seeing those small things and conquering any obstacle calls for a celebration.

We are used to celebrating when huge things come our way, or we can get past something difficult. And it makes perfect sense that we go all out in creating a great deal about it. However, we also must learn to appreciate the littlest things, as well, because it can somehow change our perspective.

Why the need to celebrate small victories?

Let’s face it. You smiled when you suddenly heard from an old friend whom you had lost touch with for many years. And instantly, both of you would want to see each other and celebrate your reconnection. Not a big deal; however, it did make you happy.

Let’s say you need to send out 500 emails in 2 days. On the first day alone, you could get past half of it; wouldn’t you be just so happy that you are almost done with your tasks? A reason to celebrate!

Sometimes, you just need to hit the pause button and look at where you are now- how has life changed you as a business owner, a parent, speaker. The journey that you took may not be the same as others. However, along the way, you were somehow able to go around barriers that have helped strengthen you as an individual today. Others may have seen these struggles, but the amount of difficulty you have felt is something they would never realize. Hats off to you for creating a better version of yourself! This indeed lifts your spirits and gives you the boost you need to keep going.

When you learn to celebrate small accomplishments, it builds up your confidence. Don’t you know that these small victories, when celebrated, boost your confidence, as well? Thus, never allow your attention to be consumed with one hurdle after another. It will easily make you feel powerless and defeated.

Having confidence is crucial because it allows you to do your best and move forward. Take, for example, a participant in a singing contest. More than having the talent to sing, it also needs to exude confidence to deliver the song the way it should be. And even if the participant didn’t bag any prize, the mere fact that they could share the talent without hitting a wrong key is a reason to celebrate. This can still help motivate the person to do better next time.

There is no need for a huge occasion to celebrate. Small victories are enough to feed your mind and soul to meet the daily challenges and slowly lead you to achieve your goals.
