Are We Working For The Money?

Are We Working For The Money? Do we ever wonder what makes entrepreneurs keep going for their money? Is it greed that drives them? The insatiable hunger to amass lots and lots of money.

But it is not really the monetary profit that drives them.

It is the challenge of overcoming new obstacles. It is also finding new solutions to seemingly old problems. Such as cash flow management, thinking out of the box, finding the right people and the list goes on.

an “entrepreneur is like an artist, a painter, who does not stop until he dies.”

Look at the likes of a former Philippine Senator Manny Villar. He has not stopped working for his money. In fact he declared having given the reigns to eldest son Paolo.

I am certain the good Senator never stops thinking of new ways to do business. He was once a vendor selling fish at the public market.

He once said “entrepreneur is like an artist, a painter, who does not stop until he dies.”

I know a couple so simple

I know a couple so simple. Twenty years ago they began as jobbers. Today own three printing presses when they started only as jobbers or order takers. Today, they still live simple lives yet they go on and take new challenges.

they remain as simple as they were twenty years ago

If it were for monetary reasons, they should be also rewarding themselves. They may even have fancy cars. Perhaps a nice palatial home and long trips abroad for the family. But, they remain as simple as they were twenty years ago.

Why, then, we ask are they still chasing contracts and getting new customers? Definitely, it is not to keep up with the Joneses.

It is this fire in the belly that is difficult to explain.

Yet we know he is one of the richest men in the country

Many entrepreneurs do this and it is not for the money. Maybe even one of Philippine tycoons Mr. John Gokongwei is one of them. He still hops on plane rides, makes his own calls, travels without a retinue of aides.

Yet we know he is one of the richest men in the country. Does he need more money? Maybe not. So why does he keep working? Is it to donate to schools?

Again, it is a certain fire in the belly that does not want to die

Again, it is a certain fire in the belly that does not want to die. Mark Zuckerberg who established Facebook is thinking of doing a charity Just like Bill Gates, Jon Bon Jovi, Sonny Bono, Warren Buffett, and Bill Clinton. These people are working for other people through their chosen charities.

For those who say they have enough and just wish to retire, never realize doing nothing is the best way to waste away

It seems they wanted to get rich just to give it all away. Indeed they are working for their money. What a puzzling idea. Maybe that is the true test of an entrepreneur.

A real one never stops working, even after an IPO ( Initial Public Offering). He may just start yet another business in no time after reaping financial rewards in a public offering.

For those who say they have enough and just wish to retire, they do not realize that doing nothing is the best way to waste away

For those who say they have enough and just wish to retire, never realize doing nothing is the best way to waste away.

They simply want to go on with life. They love to face challenges to put to use their gifts will always be put to good use. Finally they may inspire others to live purposeful lives as they do.

Money is the beginning and but never the end of it all: those entrepreneurs began earning money to live. The drive to earn money is more of accomplishing and overcoming challenges faced. To see more money earned is a gauge of how far they have breached the unknown.

The impossible became I AM POSSIBLE. Unknown names are now in every mind of every person. Imagine Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Instagram and Twitter.

People may be laughing but who is laughing all the way to the bank?

Those geniuses had to tighten their belts during the development of their dreams. I remember the classic movie “Pirates of the Silicon Valley” which is about Bill Gates in his early years. People may be laughing but who is laughing all the way to the bank?

Money acts as a fuel to keep a person constantly on the go.

Working for Money keeps a person alive and active: Money acts as a fuel to keep a person constantly on the go.

I have been a witness to retirees who with their so-called “last money” drawn from their retirement have not changed their life. The only difference now is with the pressure to survive and turn around earnings, they added a new dimension, which is enjoyment.

Money creates more Opportunities

Money creates more Opportunities: Successful Entrepreneurs create more opportunities as flow of money comes in. This called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It is never on greed. It is more of giving back to the community. A fair share of helping those less fortunate.

Injap Sia of Mang Inasal donated a Php 30 million (US$576195.00) building to the City of Iloilo (One of the key Provinces in the Philippines) as the 1st Public College. Come to think of it why bother when he has already Php 3 B (US$57619500.00) in his coffers?

We have dreams and as they say to dream is free

We have dreams and as they say to dream is free. Dream may come true if we have in mind ourselves and others. It is different though to create opportunities and promises while campaigning for public office.

Working for the Money comes to those with positive attitude. An entrepreneur develops a proper mindset and positive outlook certainly can attract more ways in earning money.
